Strategic Planning
Turning direction into action—and action into measurable progress.
The ElevateNPT Strategic Planning Framework (Vision–Strategy–Plan–Implement)
A disciplined approach to building plans that guide decisions and sustain performance.
Most nonprofits don’t struggle because of a lack of passion or commitment.
They struggle because direction is unclear, priorities shift, and the strategic plan is not actively used.
ElevateNPT focuses on four areas that determine whether a nonprofit thrives.

The Real Problem
NOT EVERY PLAN IS A STRATEGIC PLAN
Many organizations have a document they call a strategic plan.
Few have a plan that actually drives decisions.
Why?
Because the plan was never integrated into how the organization operates.
A strategic plan is not complete until:
-
Goals are clearly defined
-
Timelines are established
-
Responsibility is assigned
-
Progress can be measured
That is what turns direction into action—and action into results.
The Way We Build Strategic Capacity
These four areas form the strategic planning framework that strengthens governance, clarifies roles, and sustains performance.

How It Works
A disciplined process that turns strategy into consistent action and measurable progress.
1. Assess
We evaluate the organization’s current position, including programs, performance, resources, and leadership capacity.
2. Engage
We involve board members, staff, partners, clients, and other stakeholders to build shared understanding and commitment to the direction ahead.
3. Plan
We define strategic priorities, measurable goals, and clear responsibilities that guide decision-making.
4. Implement
We align leadership to support staff action to move the organization toward the goals identified.
5. Measure
We track progress using defined performance indicators to ensure accountability and transparency.
6. Improve
We adjust strategy and strengthen performance based on results, changing conditions, and lessons learned.

Continuous improvement keeps the strategic plan alive.
